Hmmmm...I am afraid that this is not one I will pick up very often.
Although a fairly enjoyable read I felt that in the beginning the whole sequence that explains the capture of John Tanner was very much glossed over. It would seem that the entire incident and the whole first year he was with the Shawnee (something I felt was very important) has been speedily written in order to get to the years that follow.
Most of the 15 chapters tend to deal with the circle of travels that he faced, going from one place to another then back again....then repeating the cycle.
Whilst I can appreciate that this was a major part of the nomadic way of life for some Native people....I feel that there could have been a lot more told, and I have to confess to becoming somewhat bored of reading of his same 'trek' back and forth.
The book in my opinion, quickly becomes 'stale' and tedious.
