Well, what can I say?

As with his other book reviewed here Black Elk Speaks, I found this to be a most enlightening read.

Well written and I suggest very well researched, this book gives us a real insight into the lives of the Sioux. Often (mistakenly) portrayed as 'savages' the Sioux here are shown to be a people with a very defined way of living with a firm grasp of human values.

The characters we come across in this book are depicted as warm and deeply feeling of what it means to be a Sioux, against a vivid picture of the times.

I would thoroughly recommend reading this book.
